How the Instagram estimate works
Enter a handle: we fetch the public profile and recent posts, then score account-level signals — engagement rate against the tier's industry median, median views over followers, likes-to-views ratio and view dispersion. The verdict weights these signals and says so when data is missing.
How to read the result
Each signal shows its raw value and a status. Risk here means the public numbers don't look like an organic audience — it is an estimate, not an audit. Cross-check with the TikTok detector for cross-posted creators and compare similar accounts before you book.
FAQ
- Some posts show no view counts — why?
- Instagram photo and carousel posts don't expose play counts; only videos and Reels do. When views are missing the view-based signals are marked “No data” instead of pretending they're fine — the verdict then leans on the signals that are measurable.
- How is this different from the TikTok check?
- TikTok runs a per-video fake-view detection model. Upstream offers no such endpoint for Instagram, so Instagram uses account-level heuristics — the page labels the difference everywhere, and the result explicitly lists which signals were measurable.
- Where does the data come from?
- Public platform data and third-party public profile databases. We don't scrape behind logins or buy private lists.
- Is this an audit?
- No. It's a heuristic estimate from public metrics to help you decide whether to reach out — not a verdict on a creator.
- Does it cost anything?
- Some tools work without signing up. Data lookups use a small number of credits per successful query; failures are refunded automatically.
- Can I export the results?
- Yes. Unlocked results export to CSV, and in the workspace you can process them in batches.
